About Gabby Vachon

Behind The Makeup

Gabby Vachon is a makeup and hair artist in Montreal and Toronto. She has been enamored with makeup ever since she saw Pat McGrath tell intricate stories on women’s faces while watching Fashion Television in high school. After years of recreating (or trying to come close to) Pat’s work, as well as becoming a walking encyclopedia for Lady Gaga’s various music video looks, she entered the working world of makeup by working at various cosmetics counters through her university career. She has worked for fashion retailers like SSENSE and Frank and Oak, beauty directing campaigns for LXR & Co, Jewlr, and Yoga Jeans, and being published in magazines like Latest, Sicky, Flanelle, One, Chatelaine, Clin D'Oeil, Cake, Vogue Italia Online, and more than 20 others.  She loves clean skin and soft glamour beauty as much as bright, colorful abstract editorial work; realizing a vision using various paints and powders feels like home.

Gabby is also a published writer and poet, found in prestigious magazines and journals like Blue Earth Review, Cosmonauts Avenue, carte blanche, and a finalist for the Smartish Pace Beulah Rose Prize. She has also been a prose editor for Soliloquies Anthology. She holds an Honors English Literature B.A. from Concordia University, graduating with high distinction.

On her off time you can find her eating too much popcorn during her weekly cinema dates with her husband, and prying her puppy Lola off the dishwasher.
